About the Williamson Family
Williamson Funeral Service was established in 1937 by Mr Harold Williamson, a Joiner and Funeral Director in Sowerby Bridge. In those days, undertakers and joiners went hand in hand as coffins were made in joiners workshops. Nowadays most coffins are purchased from specialist manufacturers.
The business has continued since 1937 as a local independant funeral service in the same family, now run by Peter and Anthony Williamson. Peter has been involved in the business for over 40 years, and Anthony qualified over 8 years ago. With older traditions and modern ideas, we can help families with their many requests, confidentially and compationately. We also pride ourselves having local knowledge and traditions from living in the community for many years. Williamson Funeral Service can help with every aspect of arranging a funeral, whilst maintaining the same principles and values we first started with all those years ago, guiding families through one of the most difficult times of their lives.

We have two offices, the main one being in Sowerby Bridge, where we also offer viewing rooms and a seventy seater chapel for those not wishing to use a church or go directly to the crematorium.
Having recently opened our second office in the centre of Ripponden, this space gives families the opportunity to come and talk to us in a modern private environment.

Many years of experience has taught us that each families needs are different and as such we strive to carry out all of your families wishes. With help and advice given on what to do when someone passes away at home or in the hospital to register their death, Peter or Anthony have the experience to help plan your loved ones funeral with the complete dignity you expect.
